ESCA-BIS has a collegiate management structure, as defined in the Charter, with up to five members of an executive Management Board, appointed by the Governing Board, including the Chair of Management Board who is authorised to sign documents on behalf of ESCA-BIS.

DAVID GRANT, Chair of the Management Board/Development Director
Dr David Grant is a Co-Founder of ESCA and has been deeply involved in all aspects of school development since the initial school concept in 2010. From 2011-13 he served as Chair of the Governing Board, then as a Member of the GB, until joining ESCA staff full time as Chair of Management Board in April 2014; initially for 6 month assignment then extended to 18 months in different roles, before leaving the staff when again elected as a Member of the Governing Board in October 2016. Dr Grant re-joined the staff in May 2016 as Development Director, primarily to oversee the building and development program of the school. David has a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and MBA from Henley Management College. He has worked in Central Asia for 20 years managing projects in many different sectors for both international development partners and major private sector investors.
WILLIAM POLAN, Deputy Head of Education/Head of Primary School
Mr William Polan attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee for undergraduate studies. While enrolled at Rhodes, he spent six months as an exchange student at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Chile. During his time in Memphis and Santiago, he volunteered in classrooms tutoring students in an array of subjects. Following graduation from Rhodes, Mr Polan joined the US Peace Corps and spent two years living in a rural community in Azerbaijan where he conducted teacher training, implemented new approaches to education, and taught English to grades 4-6. After Peace Corps, William completed his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas and taught English Language and Literature at an international school in Baku. He joined ESCA - BIS in summer 2015 as Form Teacher for Primary 2, while also completing the Post Graduate Certification in International Education from Nottingham University, UK. Following a very successful year at ESCA - BIS, William is taking on a new role as the Head of Primary School, IB PYP Coordinator and the EAL Programme Coordinator for the whole school.
Dr Marta Bobiatynska holds Masters and Doctoral degrees in Earth Sciences from the University of Warsaw as well as teaching qualifications from Poland, Netherlands and UK. Marta is also a certified IB school administrator (PYP, MYP, DP) and IB programme coordinator (MYP, DP) and certified IBDP workshop leader. From 2000 to 2014, Dr Bobiatynska taught Geography at IB schools in Poland and the Netherlands, where she was also a CAS Coordinator. In 2010 she participated in the Fulbright Commission and US Department of State’s Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. In 2014/15 Marta was Principal of an international school in Russia with the IB PYP for Primary and Cambridge IGCSE for older students. Marta joined ESCA - BIS in summer 2015 and has been very effective in achieving accreditation as an IB World School offering the IB Diploma and also candidate status for the IB PYP and MYP programmes.
OKSANA NAM, Head of Administration
Ms Oksana Nam graduated from Kyrgyz Russian Slavic University in 2014 and joined the ESCA-BIS team the same year as Administrative Assistant-Receptionist. Following a 4 month stay in South Korea in 2014, Ms Nam re-joined ESCA-BIS as HR Officer in October 2014. Oksana’s exceptional organisational skills and the ability to take on and succeed with multiple new tasks led to promotion to the Management Board as Head of Administration in July 2015.
AZIZA KERIMOVA, Admissions Officer
Ms Aziza Kerimova graduated from the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in 2014. She has a degree in International Relations. After graduation she worked in one of the PR-Agencies in Bishkek and joined BIS in September 2015. In June 2016 she started a new role as Admissions Officer and became part of the Management Board in October 2016. She greatly enjoys working here and is willing to make a contribution to the further development of the school.
